Concrete Angel
What lies beneath her smile,
seems to be more pain than you’d think.
A pain of consuming darkness; bleakness,
she grows weak and helpless.
Smiles disappear beneath the hurt inside,
[Only to give in to the stronger lies].
She once thought that this could never happen,
a child without her innocence; [it was stolen.]
A small memory of the happiness she once had,
now to only faintly disappear into the cold.
Vaguely now she speaks about this damage,
still scared that he’ll find her and kill her
[Just like he said he would 10 years ago].
The wind blows through the trees,
as tears slip softly out of her eyes.
[She cries ashamed little tears].
Sitting in the warm summer rain,
bleeding her emotional torment,
crying those frosted teardrops,
wishing and needing comfort,
singing a melody from her heart;
[her heart that is full of aches and
shattered glass].
There are so many hours in a day,
Where she wishes she was never born.
Death gives her a poison kiss…
Tainting her stoned, silk lips.
Dreaming of that cobbled-stone
A concrete angel left utterly alone.
Falling like the withered rose…
Petal by petal sheds to the ground.
Frowning like the empty, hollow moon.
[A young girl stuck
in her trauma].
He comes each night
with his strong hands
to take advantage of her
destroying and killing her
making her scream for her fate;
[death and loss of breath]
crying those shattered-glossy tears
bruised and wilted, like those black roses…
until she falls like a broken angel with torn wings…
left on the cold concrete in front of her home…
depressed, abandoned, unwanted…
knowing that no one will come and search for her…
and she becomes – [the concrete angel]
