Hurt

Her glossy lips
Have a shiny glow
From her red lipstick
Everyone’s sure to know

As heartbroken as she is
And her eyes swell with tears
No one notices
Love is what she fears

Afraid to get too close
Afraid to lose and be alone
Her heart shatters
As it’s sure to be shown

She bows her head
As a tear streams down her face
A lonely little girl
Searching for a safe place

Not knowing who’s her friend
Or who she seems to be
She’s invisible
If only they’d open their eyes and see

Don’t look right through her
As if she is a pained glass window
Try to look deep inside of her
Where all her emotions glow

Please give her time
Be as patient as you can
She’ll have to learn to trust
As she can’t bear to be hurt again

She’s been hurting way too long
And deceived way too much
And she flees to find some tender care;
A loving tender touch

Then soon this girl will reveal
All that she has hidden
All that she has battled endlessly
Her heart will soon be open
